Are you an International Student, immigrant, or expat who wants to thrive in your new country?
I’m a Certified ESL Teacher as well as a Certified Professional Life Coach, and I’d love to help you with your English-learning needs and also any other areas of your life that you’d like to improve. I taught ESL for 2 1/2 years in high school and tutored in ESL for more than 2 additional years. I love to help people of all languages and cultures to grow in confidence in who they are and what they want to be in life.
My tutoring and coaching sessions are over Skype. You can decide if you want ESL tutoring only, life coaching only, or both. Your first 1/2 hour session is free so you can get to know me and decide if you’d like to work with me. You can ask me any questions about the tutoring or life coaching then, too.
During the free session, I will also get to know you a little better and learn about what your needs are for improvement in your English abilities, as well as any other areas of your life you’d like to improve (if you want).
For ESL tutoring, in the free Skype session, I will assess your speaking and listening levels through conversation and by asking questions. If you decide you’d like to work with me, I will then send you a writing assessment so I can see your grammar and writing abilities.
After that, I will e-mail you worksheets and assignments to do to help you improve your English and you will send your answers back to me so I can look at them.
In the subsequent sessions I will go over some of the answers with you and help you improve your English. We will also practice your conversation skills over Skype. I can also answer any questions you have about the English language or about education in Canada (for example, how to write an essay).
Also, I can have a look at some of your assignments and help you understand the expectations. I can also have a look at some of your school work and suggest ways you can improve.
If you only want ESL tutoring from me, that’s fine, but if you would like life coaching, I’d be very happy to help you! I will help you think about what goals you’d like to reach in your life or what areas you want to improve and how you can get there.
As a life coach, I don’t give much advice, because YOU are the expert in your life, but I will help you learn more about yourself through questions and assessments, and I will help you decide what goals you want to reach and how you’d like to get there.
Here are some of the topics we may talk about, according to your needs and desires:
–discovering more about your dreams, interests and abilities and what career or education choices might fit you best
–learning about the differences between Canadian culture and your first culture as well as about culture shock, and help you think about how you can both love your first culture and adapt to this one
–learning more about your personality and it’s strengths and weaknesses and how you can be more comfortable and confident in who you are
–how you can make more connections in Canada and build a community of people to support you
–improving your relationships with family in your home country or here in Canada
–how you can have work/life balance, getting enough rest, fun, and work/study into your life
–how you can share your culture as well as your other gifts and abilities with others
–any other topics you want to discuss
So, whether you’d like ESL tutoring only or if you’d like Life Coaching only–or both–I’d be happy to help you!. I look forward to hearing from you. Contact me about prices, as I want to be able to meet your needs in a way you can afford. You can also contact me to book your first free session to see if tutoring and/or life coaching with me is for you!
